Global warming... climate change... whatever you want to call it, its a bunch of bull. I've had this argument with liberals before. I've made my points numerous times. But I have to say it again...
First of all, saying that global warming doesn't exist, that climate change doesn't happen is irresponsible. The Earth warms and cools, this is irrefutable. But, to say that Man is alone responsible, or responsible at all, for the rise in the Earth's temperatures is just as irresponsible. To date there have been no studies that prove, irrefutably, that carbon emissions or other greenhouse gas emissions are the sole cause of Earth's rising temperatures. By the same token science has, of yet, been able to prove that man does not have an impact...
So where does that leave us? To me it leaves both sides standing at 20 and a draw always goes to the house and the house in this case is mother nature.
Since we can neither prove or disprove the theory of "man made global warming" then we must presume, or at least I must, that global warming is a natural phenomena, which it is. There are various naturally occurring phenomena that contribute to the Earth warming and cooling, such as sun spot activity, changes in solar winds, fluctuations in the Earth's magnetic field, changes in the Earth's tectonic activity, etc. etc....
But, of course the liberal left would have us all believe that we are all responsible for the increases, and somehow decreases, in the Earth's temperatures. The question that we must ask ourselves now is; why is it important for the liberals to make us think we are responsible for "climate change"?
The all important Kyoto Protocol calls for countries to purchase carbon credits or offsets for carbon emissions over a certain level, which is actually higher than our current EPA standards. The proceeds from these carbon credits or offsets are then used to encourage "green industries" in third world countries....
Now, why should the USA sign the Kyoto Protocol if we already meet or exceed the carbon emission levels which it sets forth? Maybe, the idea is to get American industries to relax their standards of emission control and exceed the Kyoto levels so that American companies and the American government can then purchase carbon credits and therefore fund "green industry" in other nations... That sounds like a global scheme for wealth redistribution....
That is the reason why the liberal left wants to make you and I think that we are killing the polar bears and the planet. Its all one big socialist scam. As we all know, wealth redistribution is one of the socialist agendas. Of course, it rarely ever works on a large scale, just ask the Russians and probably the Chinese too.
Now, I know that JMac thinks that global warming is a big issue and that we must do something about that, but I also think that his views on global warming are nothing more than him trying to show that he is "in touch" with today and that he "cares about the planet" so he can get some liberal and moderate voters to back him. Truth be told when the cameras are off he's probably wondering how far into his first term he can go before he says that global warmin is horse manuer..
