Words of Wisdom from a SciFi Master.

I'm currently re-reading Robert A Heinlein's SciFi classic "Starship Troopers" and I'm amazed by Heinlein's insight into the direction this country was taking and what the end consequences may be.  "Starship Troopers" was originally published in 1959 and is still highly popular today.  There is a quote I'd like to point out for those who have never read  this book and for those who have and glossed over the political and psychological/social aspects of the book.

"      "This very personal relationship, 'value,' has two factors for a human being: first, what he can do with a thing, its use to him . . . and second, what he must do to get it, its cost to him.  There is an old song which asserts 'the best things in life are free.'  Not true! Utterly false!  This was the tragic fallacy which brought on the decadence and collapse of the democracies of the twentieth century; those noble experiments failed because the people had been led to believe that they could simply vote for whatever they wanted . . . and get it, without toil, without sweat, without tears.
"Nothing of value is free.  Even the breath of life is purchased at birth only through gasping effort and pain."... "

This excerpt is taken from Chapter Six of the book during which the main character recalls a lecture given to him during a class called History and Moral Philosophy.  This excerpt comes after the teacher completely shatters the concepts of communism and socialism.  Isn't it interesting that a SciFi book written in 1959 can fortell the downfall of western democracy

Heinlein warns of people becoming to dependent on governemnt.  He also warns of the effects of the lack of effective corporal punishment in society.  In Heinlein's future the Terran Federation meets out punishments that fit the crime in a very public manner; lashing.  He speaks of law abiding citizens being affraid to enter public parks after dark for fear of being attacked by gangs in the Twentieth Century... that was in the realtively ordered late 1950's.  Fourty-nine years later, how far off are we from Heinlein's predicted outcome of people not being able to enter parks after dark for fear of violent attacks?

Americans have just elected a very liberal, very unexperienced junior Senator from one of the most politically corrupt areas of the country.  He achieved this by hiding his liberal agenda behind a mask of pseudo-conservatism and managed to convince many that they could get many things for free just by voting for it.  Free healthcare.... vote for Barack and you got it, of course someone else must actually pay for it.  Free money...  vote for Barack "Robin Hood" Obama and he will steal from the rich (those who make over $250,000) and give to the poor (95% of working Americans, most of which pay little to no taxes to begin with).  Vote for Barack and get it all free; without toil, without sweat, with out tears....

Barack the Builder

It came to me last night....  ACORN is registering 2nd graders because they admire Barack.  Why do 2nd graders admire Barack?  Because he stole Bob The Builder's catch phrase.  "Can we build it?  Yes We Can" became "Can we change it?  Yes we can." then just "Yes We Can". Of course 2nd graders, and others of similar intelligence levels, admire Barack, he appeals to their basic instinct to admire one who mindelssly repeats empty catch phrases that can be easily repeated.  Barack has extended his cadre of catch phrases.  "I'm going to lower taxes for 95% of Americans"  and "JMac wants to cut medicare" are some of them, but lets not forget the most important "I think when you spread the wealth arround it's good for everyone."  Ask a Barack supporter why he is supporting Barack and they will say its because he wants "Hope" and "Change" and "At least he's not Bush."  Ask a McCain supporter why they support McCain and you will hear various answers.  Ask why they dont support Barack and you will hear that he is "unexpereince" or "will ruin the economy" or becasue he "wants to spread the wealth arround" quickly followed by, if they are white, and explination that it's not because he's black and that that has nothing to do with it.

Colin Powell can't even say that he is supporting Barack because of race, but yet the libs are making attacks daily that it is the "racists rednecks who cling to guna and religion" who will cost Barack the election.  Yay, lets play the race card. Again and again and again...  That's just great isn't it?  A black man can't say that his true reason for supporting another black man is because he is black, but it is ok to say over and over again that "they are gonna try to make you affraid of me, because I have a funny name and I don't look like the other guys on the currency."

Barack the Builder.  Building class envy and racial discorse for political purposes.  I don't think Nick Jr would play that one, I don't even think PBS would show that one.....

I just gotta say this... about liberals

I work with a few Democrats, actually I'm one of the only Republicans where I work.  One of them is a woman, one is an older white male, one is a younger black male and the other an older black male.  The woman, a mother of one, has decided that she "doesn't care who wins as long as they will actually fix thing" and make things better, but she kind of supports the McCain/Palin ticket because she was impressed by Sarah Palin.  I've been constantly feeding her information gathered from not only Townhall.com but also from my favorite conservative talk radio shows like Rush, Boorts, and Hannity...

The younger black male doesnt really talk polotics much and I have an honest gut feeling that he is voting for Barack just because Barack is black.  Why i feel this way is actually very simple.  I asked who he was voting for, he said Barack, I said WHY? and he said that he just thinks Barack is going to do good things for the country.... No real political backing and I really didnt push the subject because, well because I didn't want to get all super political with a guy I have to work wihth every day.

The older black male backs Barack H Obama as well and cites the Clinton Presidnecy as his reason why he supports Democrats, although I have heard him mutter the occasional reference to no helping the brothers in da hood.... or something like that...

The older white male, who has a PolySci degree from a state univeristy (UNCW... and we all know how liberal that school is), once said "I'd vote for SATAN if he ran on the Democratic ticket."  That shocked me.  It shocked me so bad that I couldn't even frame a response to it right off the top of my head.  He not only thinks that Clinton was the greatest presidnet ever, but also refered to the Illuminati and the Free Masons and pointed out that there have only been two Presidents who were not members of the Free Masons... JFK and guess who.. William Jefferson Clinton....  Now, me personally I dont usualy base my arguments for voting off of such political rhetoric as the Illuminati and the consipracy for world domination that it is supposed to represent... but hey i guess if you can subscribe to that theory then you must also subscribe to the theory that Slick Willy knew that Al Gore didn't stand a snowball's chance of winning the election and therefore ruined the economy to prevent the Republicans from holding office for more than four years and that he then sabatoged his own wife's campaign to prevent her from gaining equality with him... which i know a few conservatives who just might agree with those statements... but very few liberals....

Oh and just in case we all havent heard this nonsenss yet, come November 4th he just might be voting for Satan or well The Antichrist at least..  Yes, this theory is out as well.  Barack H Obama comes out of no where to gain political power and quickly moves up the ranks...  But I digress this is all just right Wing fear mongering, which is only fair seeing as how the left would love us to beleive that McCain is Bush 3 and that he will keep us in Iraq for 100 years.....
